In my professional opinion Liriope is one of the most overlooked Atlanta Landscape plants. At least from a maintenance standpoint. This time of the year Liriope is flushing out from the ground and soon will send up purple flower spikes that can be quite striking against its dark green or variegated foliage. But we in the industry tend to take this hardy little ground cover for granted. Thinking we don't really need to maintain it at all. And though that may be the case most of the time I think that Liriope at least deserves a little fertilizer in the spring to keep it healthy and green. So while your out there making your spring fertilizer applications remember to spread a little of the love on the Liriope. It will thank you.
