An Atlanta Landscape Gem

One of my all time favorite Atlanta Landscape trees is the Redbud. Cercis Canadensis is a small spring flowering tree with a vibrant pink flower that is nearly unrivaled. Right now they are filling the woodland borders of landscapes all over North Georgia. They are pretty much care free and there are several varieties to choose from. Forest Pansy is a variety with red leaves which adds another dimension to its timeless appeal. If you would like to add some of these Atlanta Landscape gems to your landscape give us a call. Overlooked Atlanta Landscape Plant

In my professional opinion Liriope is one of the most overlooked Atlanta Landscape plants. At least from a maintenance standpoint. This time of the year Liriope is flushing out from the ground and soon will send up purple flower spikes that can be quite striking against its dark green or variegated foliage. But we in the industry tend to take this hardy little ground cover for granted. Thinking we don't really need to maintain it at all. And though that may be the case most of the time I think that Liriope at least deserves a little fertilizer in the spring to keep it healthy and green. So while your out there making your spring fertilizer applications remember to spread a little of the love on the Liriope. It will thank you. And dont forget to call Thrive Land Care for all your Atlanta Landscaping needs this spring. 678-667-1126 or chris@thrivelandcare.com.

Atlanta Landscape Surprise

Its amazing how every where you turn there is something to enjoy in the Atlanta Landscape. I found these beauties in front of a local church where my son attends cub scouts. Beautiful blue flowers are rare indeed. Moral of this post. Make sure you take some time to really enjoy the beauty or our diverse Landscape. We are indeed lucky here in Atlanta to have a great climate for a wide variety of plant material. And no matter how busy Professional Landscapers are this time of year we all need to slow down for a few minutes to remember why it is we do what we do.

Moss In Your Turf

During the winter and Early spring it is very easy to see if you have moss growing in your dormant perennial grasses such as Zoysia and Bermuda. Moss loves shady and moist areas. If you have these conditions the best way to control the moss is to limb up some trees and cut back on the irrigation or try to improve the drainage in the area. As well try pulling a soil sample to see if your PH is low. If so a good application of lime will also help considerably. A professional Landscape Company can help you out with solving your moss problems. Give us a call for all your Landscape needs. Thrive Land Care. 678-667-1126 or chris@thrivelandcare.com.

Atlanta Landscape Alert

The Aphids are out and in full swing in the Atlanta Landscape. It is time to be closely monitoring your Winter Color beds for these little buggers. Aphids are small insects that will suck the life out of your Pansies and Violas before it is time to plant your summer flowers. They leave behind honeydew that will quickly turn into black sooty mold and your flowers will look terrible. A good treatment now will help keep these little guys in check until it is time to pull out your winter color and replace with some fresh new ones for the summer. And as always we can help you out with either. Give us a call! Thrive Land Care. 678-667-1126 or chris@thrivelandcare.com.

Cherry Blossoms In Atlanta Landscape

What a great time of the year for the Atlanta Landscape. We have the Daffodills, Winter Jasmine, Pansies and Violas and now the Cherries all blooming at the same time. The Okame Cherry is one of my all time favorite spring flowering trees. Its gorgeous pink blossoms in late February really pack a punch. It is a great small tree that grows more upright than other cherry trees with an oval crown at maturity. And as luck would have it now is a great time to plant these Atlanta Landscape beauties. Give Craft Landscape a call if you would like to add some Okame Cherries to your landscape this spring. 678-719-2325 or craftlandscapellc@gmail.com.

Atlanta Landscapers Busy In Winter

Thats right. Can you believe it. Most people think that Atlanta Landscapers really do not have a lot to do this time of the year. But contrary to that popular belief late winter is a very busy time. The picture proves it. Look at that huge pile of pruning clippings. And that is only from one week. We have been extremely busy over the last two months getting all of our properties in shape for the growing season to come. This includes Winter Pruning. Each year we thoroughly prune all shrubs to thin out and reduce large groupings in order to improve the overall health of the plants in summer. This decreases the amount of fertilizers and pesticides we use and is an integral part of our Integrated Pest Management strategy. If your Atlanta Landscapers are not winter pruning your landscape plants then give us a call. We will be glad to help! Craft Landscape. 678-719-2325 or craftlandscapellc@gmail.com

In keeping with yesterdays post on scalping your Atlanta Lawn I wanted to add this additional thought. During mid to late February the soil temperatures In Atlanta begin to rise and that means weeds will begin to germinate. Especially Crabgrass. So you need to make sure your Atlanta Lawn Maintenance company is properly applying Pre-Emergent herbicides to control these weeds. If not then it will be a tough battle this summer. Give Craft Landscape a call if you need a quote for any of your landscape needs. 678-719-2325 or craftlandscapellc@gmail.com

Chlorotic Atlanta Landscape Plants

Remember while you are out there doing your spring fertilization on your Atlanta Landscape Plants to be on the look out for Chlorosis. This is when you see evergreen plants turning a yellowish color. Caused by a lack of nitrogen this is usually easily corrected by a good application of a high nitrogen fertilizer. Be sure to pull a soil sample first to insure that a nitrogen defficiency is present. If so use a slow realease form of nitrogen to extend the feeding time on these plants. Monitoring and applying nutrient programs to your landscape plants is a basic serivce we offer. Call Craft Landscape if you need any help or advice with any of your Atlanta Landscape Needs. 678-719-2325 or craftlandscapellc@gmail.com.

Azaleas In Your Atlanta Landscape

This incredible spring weather we are having is a time for getting out and enjoying your Atlanta Landscape. While your out there dont forget to care for your flowering trees and shrubs. Especially those wonderful southern beauties that fill our city with color. Thats right. Im talking about Azaleas. This time of year you need to be thinking about doing some preventative maintenance on these beloved shrubs. A good application of systemic insecticide and a good balanced fertilizer will go a long way to providing your Azaleas everything they need to survive our hot and humid summers. As well as a great spring flower show. Also remember that if you need to do any pruning on these plants make sure you do so after blooming. It is a good Idea to prune them lower than you might want to allow them to flush out through the growing season without having to be touched. If you need any help with any of you Atlanta Landscape projects this spring remember to give Craft Landscape a call. 678-719-2325.
